For all who remain couch potatoes because they think they have to jog or run frequently and fast to reap the health benefits, Cardiology Today has some good news.
In this article about the results of the Copenhagen City Heart Study, researchers found that those who jogged just 1 to 2.4 hours per week (the equivalent of only 2-3 runs) at a slow or average (approximately 5mph) pace, had the greatest mortality benefit when compared to those who ran faster and more frequently.
One of the study's authors suggests that adults will find this to be a "practical, achievable and sustainable" goal. What it really means is that those who put off jogging or running because it may be too strenuous and time consuming have no more excuses!
