Did you know that June 1 is National Running Day?
According to those who decide such things, “You may run alone, but on National Running Day, we celebrate together! On this day, runners everywhere share their passion for a lifestyle that is one of the best, and simplest, ways to stay fit—and so much more. You can head out solo to clear your mind, gab with your regular running buddies, or turn an unsuspecting friend into a running fiend. This day is for us!”
I have no problem with this, but it reminds me of what my mother thinks about Mother’s Day: shouldn’t we be nice to our mothers more than just one day a year? And, for running . . . isn’t every day a good day for a run?
Still, I applaud those behind this proclamation because their efforts will likely encourage many new converts to begin a regular running program. With that in mind, check out their Ten Ways to Celebrate National Running Day.
(Of course, if they had room for an 11th way to celebrate National Running Day, maybe it would be to buy this book for a friend.)
